World Refrigeration Day was celebrated in Australia on 26 June 2020.
The aim was to raise awareness and understanding of the significant role that the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry play in modern life. This year's theme was the Cold Chain, and this gave the Australian Food Cold Chain Council the opportunity to not only applaud the role played by modern refrigeration but also to highlight that improvements were overdue in the Australian cold chain, mainly in temperature management and monitoring, if Australia was to achieve its target of reducing food wastage by at least half by 2030. AFCCC Chairman Mark Mitchell outlined the issues facing the cold chain in this interview on the ABC's Country Hour in South Australia.
