AFCCC HELPS TO REDUCE EXPORT BANANA WASTE

7 September 2020

Adoption of temperature monitoring technologies and adherence to improved cold chain practices will help reduce the current 10% waste of export bananas through fruit over-ripening in transit or chilling issues. This will be achieved as a result of a newly commissioned project through the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre with co-investment from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) in Queensland, and Pacific Coast Produce, as well as in-kind support from the Australian Food Cold Chain Council.
