The AFCCC is one of 17 organisations chosen by the Federal Government to step up the attack on food waste, which has reached 7.3 million tonnes of food per year, at a cost to the economy of more than $20 billion. The AFCCC will be a member of the government's new Stop Food Waste Australia, which will be funded to the tune of $4 million by the government over a four-year lifespan. Stop Food Waste will drive collaboration among relevant organisations and implement innovative solutions to achieve the goal of halving the country's food waste by 2030.
