The vaccines being developed around the world, including Australia, to combat COVID-19 will go off as fast as a piece of fish unless stored at very cold specific temperatures.
The Global Cold Chain Alliance has posted a detailed report on the challenges faced by the many players in the cold chain as they plan the task of moving billions of doses of vaccines by a variety of transport modes.
It will put the vaccine cold chain to the test – a supply chain that must keep vaccines in tightly controlled temperatures from the moment they are made to the moment they are administered to a human. Failure at any point will mean vaccines must be dumped.
